So last week I started Friendship week and had an abrupt stop. Why, you ask? Well, life got in the way, much like it does with friendships and I couldn’t keep up.
Isn’t this why I started working on my friendship game??
I had a super busy work week, taxes needed to be done, we had friends and family to visit and well, life took over!
Ironically, in the midst of writing about being a better friend, opportunities arose one after another to put those words into action and I took advantage!
My week included dinner with friends, I met another friend early Thursday morning who needed a sounding board. I picked up lunch and took it to another friend’s office one day, where we ate at her desk, just so I could see her face. Friday I celebrated one of my favorite people’s birthday at a ridiculously good sushi buffet (Happy Birthday, Jess!). We had ice cream with friends Saturday night and a birthday party Sunday where we got to catch up with friends who are also parents of Violet’s friends. I also got to talk on the phone with two of my favorite ladies! It was a gloriously full week and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
So, I will share with you the remaining “Friendship TidBits” from last week, but leave you with these parting words:
When someone needs you, be present. When you need a friend, be willing to go to them. When you want to let someone know you’re thinking of them, call them or send them a note. When life can’t be planned and opportunities pop up, be spontaneous and take advantage of them! This past week, as busy as it’s been, has done wonders for my soul and my ‘connected-ness’ with my girls. I have learned that sometimes it does take action (or the first step!) on my part but the reward is so so good for me. The more first steps you take, the fewer you will have to continue to take because your friends will reciprocate. It’s a dance, y’all.
I hope you have an incredible week filled with first steps and soul soothing connection. XOXO
