Last week was pretty stressful. I had a lot on my plate at work and was generally feeling kind of blah. Deep down I was very aware it was everyone else’s Spring Break. Although I took Monday off and enjoyed the beautiful weather, I still felt a little shortchanged by having to work Tuesday through Friday. I keep reminding myself that we are taking a bigger vacation late in the year and there’s a reason we are staying put this Spring.
I know logically why I didn’t ‘get’ a Spring Break, but my 22 year old self wants a full week of freedom and sunshine, preferably with my toes in the sand watching someone do a keg stand while I get a nice golden tan.
I definitely needed a little pick-me-up, and a new eyebrow pencil. I lost mine somehow between Nashville and Huntsville when I was traveling and filling in with eye shadow is not cutting it. So, Thursday, I decided to go to my favorite place on earth.
True story, I get JUST as excited pulling into this parking lot as I did at age 8 when we pulled into the Showbiz pizza parking lot.
It’s my grown up version of Toys R Us and I can’t imagine spending an hour anywhere else that would be more therapeutic to my soul.
It was one of those situations where you go in for an eyebrow pencil and come out with this:
What did I end up with?
* Ulta lip crayon in Prom Night – $8 (Part of a Buy 2, Get 2 Free promotion, ended up being $4.31, but not sure how that math worked out)
*Essence XXXL Shine Lipgloss $2.49
* Benefit A Little Bit Bad Gal Lash (I needed this mini size for my purse) – $10.00
*Real Techniques Blush Brush – $8.99
* Four Ulta Brand Nail Lacquer – on sale for Buy 2, get 2 Free – $12 for 4
* IT Cosmetics Brow Pencil (on sale for $12, regularly $24!)
*Shea Moisture African Black Bodywash – This is what my husband uses to keep his eczema at bay! Read here about his results. (Buy 1, Get 1 50% off) – $15.00 for both
On top of the sales that were going on, I had a coupon for $3.50 off $10 purchase plus $17.50 in rewards points! Major score.
I am loving the eyebrow pencil. It was a game time decision because my normal one was $22 (Anastasia) and this was too good of a deal to pass up. It’s a universal taupe that I really thought would be too light, but it builds really nicely and works! I highly recommend the IT Cosmetics pencil if you’re ever looking for a new one to try.
Needless to say, after an hour of browsing (buying), my entire body had relaxed and my mind was clear. I was ready to go back to the office and cruise through the rest of the day. I think I spent about $50, so that’s less than an appointment with a therapist, a massage, or even a visit to the Chiropractor. And I get to keep all of these awesome new products. You tell me what the better deal is?
Anyone else a fan of retail therapy? What’s your go to store? Tell me about it! xo
